Selective staining of β-esterase ofDrosophila

Summary

It is shown that the potent protease inhibitor phenylmethylsulphonylfluoride (PMSF) strongly inhibits the activity of allDrosophila esterases but β-esterase. We suggest the application of PMSF for the selective staining of β-esterase inDrosophila tissues.
