Summary
No significant difference was found in the range or mean values of ir-β-endorphin in the plasma of 6 patients with the Prader-Labhart-Willi syndrome compared to 7 of their normal siblings. The hypothesis that some of the symptoms of the P-L-W syndrome are due to excessive opioid activity is not supported by measurment of peripheral levels of ir-β-endorphin.
