Recruitment of pregnant women for self-examination of the postpartum return of fertility

Abstract

In our health center we use breastfeeding in teaching natural family planning (NFP) to mothers. Our objective is for the women to detect the signs of returning fertility before ovulation. Breastfeeding is a factor in amenorrhea. All pregnant women attending our health center are invited to follow our course on maternal education from the 7th, month of pregnancy. We inform them of the factors that influence the return of fertility and the signs of returning fertility, and urge the women to attend a course from the 20th, day after childbirth. Since the beginning of June we have had a 30% participation rate by new mothers in the postpartum course. We have observed a new or strengthened desire to breastfeed and to observe the signs of fertility.

Resumé

Dans notre centre sanitaire nous utilisons l'allaitement maternal pour enseigner aux mères ce qu'est le planning familial naturel. Notre objectif est de leur apprendre à déceler les signes du retour à la fertilité avant l'ovulation. L'allaitement au sein provoque l'aménorrhée. Les femmes enceintes qui fréquentent notre centre sanitaire sont toutes invitées à suivre notre stage d'éducation maternelle à partir du septième mois de leur grossesse. Nous les informons des facteurs qui influencent le retour à la fertilité et ses signes avant-coureurs et nous les prions instamment de prendre part à un stage à partir du 20ème jour après la naissance. Depuis le début de juin, nous avons enregistré un taux de participation de 30% des jeunes mères au stage dans la période post-partum. Nous avons constaté un désir nouveau et renforcé d'allaiter et d'observer les signes de fertilité.

Resumen

En nuestro centro sanitario utilizamos el amamantamiento para enseñar a las madres la planificación familiar natural (PFN). Nuestro objectivo es enseñarles a detectar los signos del retorno de la fecundidad antes de la ovulación. El amamantamiento provoca la amenorrea. Se invita a todas las mujeres embarazadas que concurren a nuestro centro sanitario a seguir nuestro curso de educación materna a partir del séptimo mes de embarazo. Les informamos de los factores que influyen sobre el retorno de la fecundidad y los signos precursores y les instamos a que asistan a un curso a partir del vigésimo día posterior al parto. Desde principios de junio hemos registrado una participación del 30% de madres jóvenes en el curso de posparto y verificado un deseo nuevo o reforzado de amamantar y observar los signos de fecundidad.
