Summary
A description is given of a breeding experiment with mice, in which it has been proved that the males of a cancerous strain transmit the cancer-tendency to their offspring. The males of this strain never develop mammary tumours. Five males were paired with five females belonging to a cancer-free strain. No tumours of any kind appeared in the F1 generation from this cross, but in F2 there were obtained 2 mammary tumours and a number of other types of neoplasms, giving a total of 22 neoplasms in 158 does which reached cancer age.
