Summary

As in America in Holland a survey has been conducted by ballot among Netherlands virologists to determine their preferences for the different systems of plant virus nomenclature. Ballots were sent to 22 persons and 18 answers were received. Fourteen virologists prefer the numbering system, 2 persons the binomial system and 2 others have no preference.

In accord with the Committee on Nomenclature and Classification on Plant Viruses of the American Phytopathological Society the undersigned persons do not favour further discussion on the choice of one of the systems by the International Botanical congress at Stockholm, but prefer that free choice should be left open for the present.
