Summary

Subsequent to a journey in USA in 1911KARL ESCHERICH structured the German applied entomology on the American model. But one of his aims he did'nt reach: the foundation of professorial chairs of entomology. Instead of those professorships of plant protection (phytomedicine) arised at universities, teaching also entomology. This means a false way, dangerous for entomology. The instruction in entomology must remain within zoology. Entomology is a partner not a part of plant protection. Both of societies, the German society of applied entomology (DGaE) and the German entomological society (DEG) should associate as soon as possible (analogous the association of both of the american entomological societies in 1953) in order to enforce their conceptions. Without this the DGaE will become a section of the German phytomedical society and the DEG will sink down into insignificance.
