Enige proeven met bestrijdingsmiddelen tegen de larve van de lapsnuittor (=taxuskever), schadelijk aan cyclamenplanten

Summary

Some tests are described which were made with the intention to find out a reliable method to kill the grubs ofOtiorrhynchus sulcatus L. in pots with cyclamen plants. These grubs may be a pest on cyclamen in glass-houses.

We found that a 2 hour's immersion of the pots into a DDT-emulsion, containing 0.2% technical DDT, was rather effective against the grubs, whereas healthy cyclamen-plants were not damaged by the treatment.

If BHC, chlordane or parathion in corresponding percentages were used in the same way, some living larvae were still present a month after the immersion. Emulsions gave better results than suspensions.
