With a summery: An albino in Loose Smut of Barley

Summary

In 1946, during breeding experiments on smut resistant barley a white-coloured smutted ear was found in the higly susceptible spring variety Abed Kenia. The white form was multiplied by inoculation upon Abed Kenia.

It showed only a low rate of multiplication in two successive years. It is believed that the albino form arose by mutation. So far backward mutation has not ocurred.
