Sensorized on line determinations of molecular hydrogen inEscherichia coli fermentations

Summary

The production of molecular hydrogen was measured in the effluent gas of 7 fermentations. The aim of this primary investigation was to study the use of a H2-sensitive metal-oxide-semiconductor structure in physiological studies ofEscherichia coli. In order to yield more information, we measured metabolic heat with a flow microcalorimeter in parallel with the determinations of molecular hydrogen. The physiological parameters of intrest were medial effects, HCOOH-additions, pH and partial oxygen pressure.
