Experience with a vertical technique in mammoplasty

Abstract

The authors describe their personal modification of Airé's technique which they have used since 1971 with about 160 patients. They list its significant advantages, and they also stress the limits of the technique. In particular, no more than 500 g tissue per breast are to be removed to ensure a proper mastopexy. This limit, however, is fully offset by the advantage that, when coupled to a thorought preoperative examination and performed by an experienced surgeon, the procedure cannot but result in successful mammoplasties.
