Abstract
Extensive lipectomy of the cervical regions and lower face improve facial rhytidectomy. The procedure is based on sound anatomic knowledge, chiefly of the platysma muscle, its limits, and its variations. The method gives excellent results, but its use is recommended only when there are abnormal deposits of fat over the mandibular and submental areas. The procedure has been used widely with excellent results, and complications are minimal.
