Parenteral feeding abolishes the circadian adrenocortical rhythm in rats

Summary

The circadian rhythm of the blood corticosterone level disappeared in rats that had been given a liquid diet i.v. during a resticted time of day for 10 days, suggesting an important role of the oro-gastrointestinal tract in formation of the rhythm.
