Conclusion
In the non-mast cell tissues the steady-state level of histamine is ensured by a complex regulatory mechanism which controls not only the histidine decarboxylase activity but also the efflux of the newly synthetized amine. The latter appears to be much more important in this regulatory mechanism as it prevents the overproduction of histamine in the cells.
