Summary

The addition of some halogenated alkanes (bromotrichloromethane, carbontetrachloride and chloroform) to cultures ofA. parasiticus andA. flavus have shown a high stimulating effect on aflatoxin biosynthesis. When the production of aflatoxin increases during the stimulating effect the peroxidase activity is inhibited.
