Abstract

A phytotoxic metabolite was found to accumulate in culture of a strain ofMelanconis thelebola, isolated from canker on red alder (Alnus rubra Bong.). The metabolite was identified by elemental analysis,1H-and13C-NMR and IR spectroscopy as 3-nitropropanoic acid.
