Error estimates for the computation of eigenvalues of self-adjoint operators

Abstract

A convergence theorem is given for the numerical computation of eigenvalues of self-adjoint operators. The computed eigenvectors are used to construct trial solutions which can be used to obtain easily computable and accurate error estimates.
