Gli estratti di pelle diLitoria aurea, un anfibio leptodactilide australiano, contengono 2 polipeptidi ad attività bombesinosimile. Uno di essi, la litorina, è stato identificato come un nonapeptide avente strette analogie strutturali con la bombesina, l'alitesina e la ranatensina.
