Summary

Because of the finite pulse rate, pressure receptors of the aortic arch and carotid sinus are excited only some time after completion of the heart action. The dependence of this time interval on the vascular length and heart rate has been studied on dogs. The first relationship was found to be of the linear type, whereas variation of the heart rate did not show any effect on the delay time.
