Fra i Leptodactylidi Australiani,Cyclorana alboguttatus ha 2n=26 come le forme più generalizzate della famiglia, mentre alcune specie diLimnodynastes hanno 2n=22; specie di altri 5 generi hanno 2n=24. Fra questi ultimi, il problematicoRheobatrachus, completamente acquatico, possiede alcuni microcromosomi come i membri più primitivi dell'ordine.
