Summary

The Concept of Fuzzy Sets is presented as a new Tool for the Formulation and Solution of Systems and Decision Problems. The Axiomatic System of Fuzzy Set Theory is briefly sketched and possible Applications of this Approach are described. Critical Remarks concerning the presently existing Axioms and necessary future Research Directions conclude this introductionary paper.
