Bei willkürlichen tonischen Muskelkontraktionen werden motorische Einheiten mit niedriger Maximalfrequenz zuerst rekrutiert. Dagegen können bei willkürlichen phasischen Muskelkontraktionen motorische Einheiten mit hoher Maximalfrequenz zuerst rekrutiert werden.
