Screening of heart-arrhythmic and anti-arrhythmic drugs in the male albino rat

Basic Research in Cardiology Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The technique of screeing heart anti-arrhythmic drugs in the rat is described. A stable arrhythmia can be best produced by intravenous injection of Barium chloride, Strophantin and Aconitin. The response to other arrhythmic substances like Lanatoside C or Adrenaline is more irregular. The potential anti-arrhythmic effect of some solvents, used in the preparation of injectable solutions, is stressed.
