Abstract
The first part of a bipartite bibliography on damages to materials caused by insects is given containing damages to metallic and mineralic substances. A number of 158 publications is evaluated. The major group of insect pests are the Coleoptera. But also Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera and Diptera have been found damaging materials. The second part following in one of the next issues of this journal will deal with insects damaging synthetic materials.
