Abstract

An infection withMalamoeba (Malamoeba cf.locustae) of Coleoptera is described for the first time. The prevalence of this Amoebidae was determined from larves and adults ofDryocoetes autographus Ratz. (Coleopt., Scolytidae) collected near Königssee, Bavarian Alps.

Malamoeba cf.locustae infected only 3% of all 264 individuals of the bark beetle examined in 1977.

Informations on the forms and dimensions of the cysts and their localisation in the host are given.

Zusammenfassung

In 8 von 264 untersuchten Käfern und Larven vonDryocoetes autographus wurde die AmoebeMalamoeba locustae festgestellt, die bisher nur von Urinsekten und Feldheuschrecken bekannt war. Es wird eine Übersicht über die bisherigen Funde dieses Einzellers gegeben und Mitteilung über Form, Größe und Lokalisation im Wirt gemacht.
