Summary

Verbena officinalis specifically incorporates 2-14C labelled mevalonic acid in the formation of the aglycone moiety of verbenalin (2). In aucubin (6), isolated fromVerbascum thapsus, the incorporation rate is very low and the main part of the activity is located in the sugar moiety.
