Die Medizinische Entomologie in der Bundesrepublik und die Entwicklungshilfe

Abstract

The developing countries of the tropics and sub-tropics are in comparison to the countries of temporate latitudes, a great disadvantage from the point of view of ecoparasitology.

For the Federal Republic of Germany to provide aid, that is successfully, it will also have to consider parasites and their influence on the peoples of these, countries. In order to solve the numerous parasitological problems, qualified medical entomologists, i.e. parasitologists are needed.

The training of such specialists within existing biological curricula has, through a lack of knowledge of the meaning of parasitology, been neglected, with the results that such qualified scientists cannot be provided as part of the aid to developing countries.

Zusammenfassung

Die Entwicklungsländer im Bereich der Tropen und Subtropen sind aus öko-parasitologischer Sicht benachteiligt. Will man den Entwicklungsländern wirksam helfen, müßten die zahlreichen Parasitosen bei der Erstellung von Entwicklungshilfeprojekten in die Überlegungen mit einbezogen werden. Eine große Bedeutung bei der Analyse von Vektor-Parasit-Systemen besitzt der Medizinische Entomologe bzw. der Ökologe. Es wird darauf hingewiesen, daß innerhalb des Biologiestudiums die Parasitologie bzw. die Medizinische Entomologie kaum berücksichtigt werden und daher in der Bundesrepublik kaum Biologen für derartige Aufgaben zur Verfügung stehen.
