Die Resultate dieser Untersuchung unterstützen die Auffassung, dass das Epithel im kranialen Teil der Vagina ein Derivat des Müllerschen Epithels ist. Seine Differenzierung erscheint durch Zusammenwirken von Mesenchym und Epithel verursacht.
