Dei due compostidl-serina e S-diclorovinill-cisteina — che producono necrosi tubulare renale in ratti maturi — solo il secondo ha manifestato il medesimo effetto in ratti neonati. La differenza suggerisce che diversi gradi di maturità sono richiesti per consentire a ciascun composto di produrre danno tubulare.
