La sección y extirpación bilateral de los bulbos olfactorios, en ratas de ambos sexos, producen disminución de las proteínas séricas totales, albumina y globulinasα yΒ, sin modificaciones de la globulinaγ. Esa disminución se hace significativa 21 días después de las operaciones.
