Abstract

On insects found in excavations from the Roman Age. A review is given of the results of excavations made in several regions of Europe with regard to the insect fauna particularly the species of Coleoptera. Many important pests of grain and other victuals as well as of wood were displaced by the Roman troups. Species especially were imported into middle european countries and England from mediterranean regions. The dislocation of store insects depended on the special organization of the store service within the Roman armies.
