Abstract
Zymomonas mobilis ZM3 was flocculated with a synthetic polyelectrolyte and titanium hydrous oxide. Continuous culture on a glucose medium in a gaslift tower reactor with internal recycle resulted in a stable production of 70 g/l ethanol, with an 8 fold increase in productivity compared to a similar free cell culture.
