The adsorption methods in the analysis of drugs in biological materials

Summary

The usefulness of adsorbents (XAD-resin, charcoal and ion exchange resins) in the toxicological analysis is investigated and compared with the wellknown extraction methods. Although solid adsorbents are convenient in their application for urine samples, solvent extraction is much superior in the separation of acidic and basic compounds, in the recovery of drugs and in the universal application to all types of biological samples (organ extracts). In any case it is suggested to consider critically the use of adsorbents.
