Abstract

Concepts of prime agricultural land, its definition, and its description are presented. Alternative means to analyze potentials and losses are described. Techniques now used in the preservation of land are listed. A concept of cropland primeness is advanced and means suggested for its computation, its display in maps, and its interpretation. An example of the use of the primeness concept in airport site selection is reported.
