Summary

By the pH studies of the precipitation of thorium hydroxide by interaction between different concentrations of thorium chloride and sodium hydroxide, it is observed that the complete precipitation in every case occurs near a pH of 7. The results also show that concentrations have little effect on the pH of complete precipitation. The inflexion points of all the curves occur before the addition of four equivalents of alkali confirming that the complete precipitation occurs with an amount of alkali less than the theoretically equivalent amount.
