Photogrammetric survey of the structural geology of the Sudbury-McGregor Bay District, Ontario, Canada

Zusammenfassung

Mit Hilfe von Luftaufnahmen aus 11 000 m Höhe unter Anwendung des Standard-Me\bild-Verfahrens wurde eine Grundkarte der Sudbury-McGregor-Bucht in Ontario, Kanada, hergestellt.

Unter Berücksichtigung geologischer Arbeiten ergaben sich daraus neue Gesichtspunkte für Lithologie und Tektonik des mittleren PrÄkambriums in diesem Gebiet.

Abstract

New information is presented regarding the structural geology of the Huronian rocks (Middle Precambrian) of the Sudbury-McGregor Bay district of Ontario, Canada.

Using standard photogrammetric techniques a base map of the area was prepared from photographs taken at a height of about 11,000 m. Extrapolation from the work ofYoung &Church (1966) together with the evidence deduced from the aerial photographs facilitated the construction of a lithological map at the scale of 1∶187,500 (Fig. 2). From this map large scale type 2 interference pattern is recognised (seeRamsay, 1967) and a tentative structural history is suggested for the area.

Résumé

De nouvelles données sont apportées sur la géologie structurale du Huronien (Précambrien moyen) de la région de Sudbury et de la baie de McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Une carte de la région a été dressée sur la base de photographies aériennes prises à une altitude d'environ 11 km et ce, suivant les techniques normales de la photogrammétrie. Les données fournies par les travaux deYoung et deChurch (1966), ainsi que les faits apportés par les photographies aériennes ont facilité l'élaboration d'une carte lithological à l'échelle de 1∶187 500 (Fig. 2). Celle-ci permet d'apporter de nouvelles vues sur la lithologie et la tectonique du Précambrien moyen de cette région.
