Normal values of fluoride from a defined region of the human iliac crest

Summary

Normal fluoride concentrations in the human iliac crest are presented based on analyses of bone ash. Samples were obtained from 100 cadavers of both sexes. The bone samples were all taken from exactly the same skeletal location to allow for direct comparison with samples derived by bioptical methods from living subjects. The analyses were carried out on solutions of dried bone ash using an ion-sensitive electrode. Statistical treatment of the results shows a positive linear relationship between fluoride content and age.
