  1. Aus dem Coniin, das bekanntlich nicht als Ammoniumbase sondern als secundäre Aminbase betrachtet wird, hat Hofmann durch Einwirkung von Jodmethyl die Ammoniumbasen erhalten.

  3. Dieser Vorgang wird durch folgende Gleichung veranschaulicht: (C8H15CH3) (CH3)2 NOH=(CH3)3N+C8H14+H2O Trimethylconylammoniumoxydhydrat = Trimethylamin + Conylen + Wasser.
