Zur angiographischen und szintigraphischen Diagnostik intrakranieller Metastasen. Ein Bericht über 102 histologisch verifizierte Fälle

The angiographic and scintigraphic diagnosis of intracranial metastases. Results in 102 patients with histologically verified tumours

Zusammenfassung

Die Leistungsfähigkeit von Angiographie und Szintigraphie bei der Diagnose intrakranieller Metastasen wird in Abhängigkeit von Tumorhistologie und -lage anhand eines Krankengutes von 102 Patienten beurteilt. Die histologische Verifizierung erfolgte in 82 Fällen operativ, in 15 autoptisch und in 5 über die Histologie des Primärtumors. 17 Patienten litten an zwei oder mehr Hirnmetastasen. Die Analyse dieser Fälle berücksichtigt Zahl und Lage aller im Verlauf der weiteren Abklärung und Behandlung bekanntgewordenen intrakraniellen Tumormanifestationen. Tabellarische Übersichten über die in der Literatur mitgeteilten Ergebnisse angiographischer und szintigraphischer Untersuchungen bei intrakraniellen Metastasen ermöglichen eine vergleichende Beurteilung der eigenen Resultate.

Summary

The efficiency of angiography and scintigraphy in the diagnosis of intracranial metastases, relative to the location and histology of the tumour, is evaluated in 102 patients. The metastasis was verified histologically in 82 cases at surgery, and in 15 at autopsy. In the remaining 5 patients, only the histology of the primary tumour was available. Seventeen patients had two or more brain metastases. The analysis of these cases takes into consideration the number and location of all the manifestations of intracranial tumour which were observed during the work-up period and during therapy. Tables are used to compare our own results with those to be found in the literature concerning the angiographic and scintigraphic examination of patients with intracranial metastases.
