Contribution to the surgical treatment of caroticocavernous fistulae

Zusammenfassung

Es wird eine neue Operationsmethode zur chirurgischen Behandlung der Karotis-Kavernosus-Fisteln beschrieben. Mittels eines Fogarty-Katheters wurde die A. carotis interna in Höhe der Fistel verschlossen. Die Vorteile dieser Methode gegenüber den bisher angewendeten operativen Verfahren werden diskutiert.

Summary

A new technique for the surgical treatment of carotic-cavernous fistulae is described. By means of a Fogarty catheter the internal carotid artery is occluded at the level of the fistula.

The advantages of this method are compared with those of previously available operative techniques.
