Abstract
In the subgenusEuoenothera, five plastid types can be identified. The same major groups of genome complexes as established byCleland, stand out when attention is focused on the co-operation between genomes and plastomes.
Experiments on plastid competition and plastid-genotype compatibility lead to an unambiguous interpretation of phylogenetic relations within the subgenus.
