Zusammenfassung

Die eozänen Insekten Westeuropas weisen auf ein warmes subtropisches Klima jener Gegenden hin. Während des Oligozäns überwiegen noch exotische Arten. Die mittlere Jahrestemperatur von Südfrankreich dürfte bei 25° gelegen haben. Während des Oligozäns sank die mittlere Temperatur um einige Grad. Nach einem weiteren leichten Absinken im Miozän setzte im Pliozän ein warmes Mittelmeerklima ein.
