Zusammenfassung
-
1.
Summary
-
1.
Jensen tumors contain little blood (2–3%); this is independent of the age of the tumor. As the tumor ages the concentration of the free, extracellular glucose diminishes. Between the concentration of the plasma glucose and that of the tumor is a sharp gradient which increases as the tumor grows. In the same period of time the concentration of the ATP increases about 232%, the ADP about 183% and the DPN about 150%.
-
2.
Between the 3rd and 6th days after the implantation the concentration of the RNA-P and the DNA-P increases considerably; the ratio of RNA-P to DNA-P remains the same. The increase in the concentration of the ATP, ADP, AMP, and DPN is related to the great cellular outgrowth of the tumor. An increase in the metabolite concentration per DNA unit is not detectable.
-
3.
Jensen tumors reveal a high intra-tumor concentration of lactic acid. Tumor-bearing animals evidence a higher concentration of lactic acid in the blood than do control animals. The concentrations of pyruvate and glucose of the blood are not permanently affected by the growth of the tumor.
-
4.
In order to void errors in metabolic studies of tumors, it is recommended that tumors of the same age always be used, and that the analyses obtained be related to the unit of DNA.
