Cerebrospinal rhinorrhea with pituitary adenoma

Summary

After reviewing the literature the authors report the case of a woman with a chromophobe pituitary adenoma. The only abnormal physical sign was a CSF rhinorrhoea.

The authors describe and discuss the pathological findings in relation to the pathogenesis of the rhinorrhoea.

Zusammenfassung

Nach einer Übersicht über die Literatur berichten die Autoren über eine Patientin mit einem chromophoben Hypophysenadenom, die als einziges pathologisches Zeichen eine nasale Liquorfistel hatte. Die Autoren beschreiben und diskutieren die pathologischen Befunde in Hinblick auf die Pathogenese der nasalen Liquorfistel.

Résumé

Après avoir étudié la littérature les auteurs rapportent le cas d'une femme présentant un adénome hypophysaire. Le seul signe était une zhinorrhée. Les signes en relation avec la pathogénie de la rhinorrhée sont décrits et discutés.

Riassunto

Gli AA., dopo una rassegna della letteratura, illustrano un caso di rinoliquorrea che rappresenta l'unico sintomo in una donna portatrice di adenoma cromofobo dell'ipofisi.

Descrivono e commentano le caratteristiche anatomo-patologiche del caso in rapporto alla patogenesi della rino-liquorrea.

Resumen

Tras un repaso de la literatura los autores informan sobre una enferma con un adenoma hipofisario cromofobo, el cual como sintoma patologico único presentaba una fistula de LCR nasal. Los autores describen y discuten los hallazgos patológicos con respecto a la patogénesis de la fistula de LCR nasal.
