Summary
Case report of a seven year old girl with signs of a Refsum syndrome and of a lipidosis. Chemical analyses of liver and kidney revealed a severe loss of phosphatides and an accumulation of 3,7,11,15 tetramethyl hexadecanoic acid in all lipid fractions. This acid has previously not been observed in man. The Refsum syndrome must be considered as belonging to the group of lipid storage diseases.
