-
Teil I
enthält die allgemeine Gliederung des Marsreliefs.
-
Teil II
-
le volet I
(la présente note) comporte la subdivision générale du relief martien;
-
le volet II
comprendra la description des (méga-)auréoles;
-
le volet III
traitera des zones à relief d'origine climatique.
Abstract
An analysis and interpretation of images obtained by Mariner 9 and Viking 1 and 2 led to a subdivision of the Martian relief into densly cratered (old) Southern Uplands and sparcely cratered (young) Northern Lowlands. Both relief categories are separated by a transition zone with a complicated relief. Further characteristic relief elements of the Martian surface are (Mega-) Aureoles which surround large-scale updomings and very large impact structures. Moreover, climate-related relief zones which seem to be predominantly of eolian origin occur in the vicinity of the polar caps and in the equatorial region. According to this subdivision, the investigations have been carried out in three evaluation steps:
-
Part I
(present paper) contains the general subdivision of the Martian relief.
-
Part II
will contain the description of the (Mega-) Aureoles.
-
Part III
will contain the description of the climate-related relief zones.
