The study of New Zealand wild hybrids, commenced under the inspiration ofCockayne's pioneer work, has been further stimulated by the visit ofDr. J. P. Lotsy in 1925, and by the publication of the lectures he delivered to the University Colleges, under the titleEvolution considered in the Light of Hybridization. (Printed for Canterbury College bijAndrews, Baty & Co., Christchurch, N. Z., (1925).
Cockayne, L. Hybridism in the New Zealand Flora. The New Phytologist, vol 22, No. 3, p. 105, 1923. The list of 130 almost certain hybrids there given, has been increased to 208 in an appendix by the same author to the volume containingLotsy's New Zealand lectures. Since then other hybrids have come to light, and there are doubtless many more yet to discover.
