Summary
In normotensive children angiotensin II produces a significant reduction of the renal clearance of phosphate. This reduction primarily is achieved by an increase of the tubular reabsorption of phosphate, asC P/C In andT P/C In demonstrate. The maximal tubular reabsorption of phosphate also is enhanced by angiotensin asTm P/C In shows.
Since angiotensin produces an increase of the renal reabsorption of sodium, chloride, phosphate, calcium, magnesium, amino acids and water in normotensive persons it is thought that these tubular effects probably are nonspecific. It is suggested that angiotensin may produce an increase of the tubular passage time by altering the glomerulo-tubular balance.
