Summary

The reason for immunotherapy of malignant tumors is the demonstration of tumor antigens and the immune response to tumors. An effective defense of tumors can be prevented by different kinds of disturbances of the immune response. Therefore, methods were developed to achieve a more effective immune defense of tumors by modulation of the immune system. As examples of clinical results the data of an unspecific immunotherapy in patients with bronchial carcinoma, of a specific immunotherapy in patients with acute myelocytic leukemia, and of an adoptive immunotherapy in patients with osteogenic sarcoma are reported.
