Abstract
The paper gives the results of an experimental study of Young's modulus and the logarithmic decrement of damping on a crystal grown from the melt, in the region of its photo-sensitivity, from the changes in natural frequency and theQ-factor of a resonator composed of quartz and CdS.
The results obtained for the spectral dependence of the damping decrement are in good agreement with theory. The spectral dependence of Young's modulus agrees qualitatively with theory but complete quantitative agreement was not observed.
The following are determined from the results of measurement:
-
1)
the spectral region in which the interaction of the conductivity electrons with the standing wave is maximum,
-
2)
the coefficient of electromechanical coupling, the elastic constant and the conduction of the investigated sample of CdS.
