Abstract
We have measured the normal statedc conductivity σ, the superconducting transition temperatureT c and the critical superconducting currentI c0 of frozen Sn−Xe mixtures in dependence of the Sn atomic fractionc. A “new”, high-T c phase is observed forc between 0.58±0.02 and 0.74±0.02. This phase has aT c-value of about 5.7 K, it shows a strong decrease in σ and inI c0 and transforms into disordered Sn during annealing between 15 K and 50 K.

First experiments on the system Sn−Kr show, that the “high-T c” phase is stabilized in the same Sn concentration regime as in the Sn−Xe system; this supports the idea that only thee/a-ratio, but not the metal volume fraction, is the important quantity which determines the stability of this phase
